Experience:
Mick originally trained as a Mechanical/Electrical engineer with British Rail but has been active in micro-hydro power since 2000. His first project, Craigpot, was to design and build a mid-shot waterwheel to provide power for his home. From this experience he proceeded to pioneer the use of Archimedean screw turbine technology in Scotland in collaboration with Mann Power Consulting Ltd. This culminated in the commissioning of the first ever Archimedean screw turbine in Scotland at Strathdon in 2007.
Since joining Highland Eco-Design Ltd as a director in 2009 he has been pivotal in the securing of permissions, construction management and commissioning of the majority of our schemes to date.
Mick works on all aspects of hydro schemes but specialises in operational maintenance and project management.
